Reasons Why it is better to Give than to Receive

Title: The Blessing of Giving

Scripture: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." - Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Devotional

Giving is a fundamental aspect of the Christian faith. It's a way for us to demonstrate our love and gratitude to God, while also showing compassion and kindness to those around us.

When we give, we open ourselves up to receive blessings from God. This is not a transactional relationship, where we give only to receive. Rather, it's a natural consequence of living a life of generosity and obedience to God's Word.

Giving can take many forms, including:

- Financial giving: supporting our local churches, missionaries, and those in need

- Time giving: volunteering, serving, and helping others

- Talent giving: using our skills and abilities to bless others

Regardless of the form, giving always requires sacrifice. It requires us to put others before ourselves, to trust in God's provision, and to seek His kingdom above our own interests.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to cultivate a heart of generosity and giving. Show me opportunities to bless others, and give me the courage to trust in Your provision. May my giving be a reflection of Your love and kindness, and may it bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Reflection Questions

1. What are some ways that you can give to others today?

2. How has giving blessed your life in the past?

3. What are some areas where you struggle to give, and how can you ask God to help you in those areas?
