The power of Staying Focused, Don't give Up

*Devotional: The Power of Focus*

*Scripture:* Matthew 14:22-33, Luke 9:62, Hebrews 12:1-2

*Introduction:*

In a world filled with distractions, it's easy to lose focus. Our minds can wander, and before we know it, we've spent hours scrolling through social media or watching videos. But as Christians, we're called to live a life of purpose and intentionality. Today, let's explore the power of focus and how it can transform our lives.

*The Importance of Focus:*

In Matthew 14:22-33, we read the story of Peter walking on water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on the water. But when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the wind and waves, he began to sink.

This story illustrates the importance of focus in our lives. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we're able to navigate life's challenges with confidence and faith. But when we take our eyes off Him and focus on the distractions around us, we can quickly become overwhelmed and lose our way.

*The Power of Focus:*

In Luke 9:62, Jesus says, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God." This verse emphasizes the importance of focus and perseverance. When we're working towards a goal or pursuing a dream, it's easy to get distracted or lose momentum. But Jesus encourages us to keep our eyes on the prize and press forward, even when the going gets tough.

In Hebrews 12:1-2, we're encouraged to "run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." This verse reminds us that our focus should be on Jesus, not on the distractions around us. When we keep our eyes on Him, we're able to run the race of life with purpose and direction.

*Practical Application:*

So, how can we apply the power of focus to our lives? Here are a few practical tips:

1. *Set clear goals:* Take time to reflect on what you want to achieve in your life. Set clear, specific goals that align with your values and priorities.

2. *Eliminate distractions:* Identify the things that distract you the most, and find ways to eliminate them. Turn off your phone, log out of social media, or find a quiet workspace.

3. *Stay focused on Jesus:* Remember that your focus should be on Jesus, not on the distractions around you. Take time to pray, read Scripture, and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit.

4. *Practice perseverance:* When you're working towards a goal, it's easy to get discouraged or lose momentum. Practice perseverance by breaking your goal into smaller, manageable steps, and celebrating your progress along the way.

*Conclusion:*

The power of focus is a powerful tool that can help us achieve our goals and live a life of purpose and intentionality. By setting clear goals, eliminating distractions, staying focused on Jesus, and practicing perseverance, we can unlock our full potential and live a life that honors God.

*Prayer:*

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to stay focused on You and Your plans for my life. Give me the discipline and perseverance to achieve my goals, and remind me to keep my eyes on Jesus, even when the going gets tough. In Jesus' name, Amen.
