*Faithful in Little*
*Scripture:*
"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much." - Luke 16:10 (NIV)
"His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.'" - Matthew 25:21 (NIV)
*Reflection:*
God rarely starts with the big stage. He starts with the small, hidden, unnoticed places. David tended sheep before he faced Goliath. Joseph managed a household before he managed a nation. Jesus said if you can’t be trusted with little, you won’t be trusted with much.
Faithfulness in little is where character is built. It’s showing up on time when no one checks. It’s doing the task well when no one will thank you. It’s stewarding $50 the same way you’d steward $50,000. God watches how you handle what’s small because it reveals what you’ll do when the stakes are higher.
The temptation is to despise the small things and wait for the “real” opportunity. But the small things _are_ the opportunity. God uses them to test your heart, develop your skills, and prove your motives. Faithfulness now is what qualifies you for more later. And even if the “more” never comes in this life, God sees, and He rewards what’s done in secret.
Don’t despise small beginnings. God does His deepest work in the hidden places before He brings you into the open.
*Prayer:*
Father, help me be faithful today in the small things You’ve given me. Remove my contempt for hidden work. Teach me to serve You with excellence whether anyone notices or not. I trust You with what comes next. Amen.
*Application:*
- Identify one “small” responsibility you’ve been half-hearted about and do it with excellence today
- Remove the audience: ask “Would I still do this if no one ever saw it?”
- Thank God for the current assignment: treat it as training, not a delay
What’s one small thing God has placed in your hands right now that you can be faithful with today?
