*Devotional: God With Us in the Fire*

*Scripture: Isaiah 43:2*

_“When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”_

*Reflection*

God never promised we wouldn’t go _through_ things.

He promised we wouldn’t go _through them alone_.

_Waters_ = seasons that feel like drowning. Anxiety, grief, confusion.

_Rivers_ = pressure that keeps coming.

_Fire_ = trials that try to burn you — criticism, betrayal, loss, sickness.

Notice the verbs: _pass through, walk through_. It’s not a place to live in. It’s a place to go through.

And right in the middle: _“I will be with you.”_

That’s the promise. Not escape. Presence.

Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3? The fire didn’t touch them, and Jesus was walking with them in it. That’s still how He works.

The fire can’t consume you because the One who is _in_ you is greater than anything _against_ you. 1 John 4:4

*3 truths for the fire:*

1. *He sees you* — He’s not distant. He’s in it with you.

2. *He sustains you* — _“They shall not overwhelm you.”_ You won’t drown.

3. *He refines you* — 1 Peter 1:7: Fire proves faith and makes it stronger.

*Prayer*

Jesus, I’m in a fire/water season and I’m scared. Thank You that You promised to be with me. Don’t let me go under. Don’t let me be burned. Walk with me through this. Make me more like You on the other side. I trust You to bring me out and to be with me while I’m in it. In Your name, Amen.

*Action for Today*

1. *Name the fire*: What “water” or “fire” are you walking through? Say it out loud to God.

2. *Presence Pause*: 3 times today, stop and pray: “Jesus, You are with me right here.”

3. *Hold the promise*: Write Isaiah 43:2 on a note and put it where you’ll see it. Read it when fear rises.

Which one feels most real to you right now — the waters or the fire? I’m standing with you in prayer that you’ll feel His presence in it.
