*Salvation and Sanctification*
*Scripture:*
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." - Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification." - 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV)
*Reflection:*
Salvation is the moment; sanctification is the journey. Salvation is God pulling you out of Egypt in one night. Sanctification is God getting Egypt out of you over a lifetime. You didn’t work _for_ salvation—Jesus did that on the cross. But you do work _out_ your salvation with the Holy Spirit daily. God loved you too much to leave you where He found you. Salvation makes you His child instantly. Sanctification makes you look like His child gradually. One is justification—declared righteous. The other is transformation—becoming righteous in practice. You’re not saved by works, but you’re saved _for_ good works. Don’t confuse the two, and don’t separate them either.
*Prayer:*
Thank You, Lord, for saving me by grace. I didn’t earn it and I can’t lose it. Now, Spirit of God, sanctify me. Make me more like Jesus in my thoughts, words, and actions today. Amen.
*Application:*
- Rest: thank God for the gift of salvation you didn’t work for
- Respond: identify one area where the Holy Spirit is convicting you to change
- Cooperate: obedience is how we partner with sanctification
Salvation is your position. Sanctification is your progression. Where is God calling you to grow today?
